Join me on my journey.
If you have been following my most recent designs, you may have noticed how prevalent triangles in all forms have become in my work. While I initially just wrote it off as just a design element that I was being drawn to, a recent comment from a client got me thinking about why I am so compelled to use the triangle.
As I started looking into various meanings behind this symbol, I am not surprised at all that it has been tugging away at a part of my brain for awhile.
When it is 109 degrees in Vegas and you are ready to shoot your fall collection, it helps to have some amazing friends to call on to make magic happen despite the heat. This past week, we shot early pieces from my Fall 2016 collection and I wanted to share a bit of the behind the scenes with you. Keep an eye out for the finished shots to be hitting the website soon, but for now,
June is such an exciting month for me as a small business owner. I am coming up on my one year anniversary of jumping into this crazy path as my full time commitment. Maybe that is what has pushed me a bit to make a few changes I have had in my mind for awhile now. One of those changes is about to come to fruition.
If you have been following this blog for awhile,
For anyone who knows my personal journey, this year so far has been a roller coaster ride. So many wonderful things happening, but also a few major upheavals and changes. The weight of some of this has been heavy on my mind and my heart for some time now, and it’s been hard for me to shake it off.
Somehow Vegas doesn’t seem the same without these two. My aunt and uncle helped me realize how much Vegas had to offer besides the strip and other tourist traps this town is full of.
I love hairsticks. I spent my teen years styling my hair up with pencils and pens, and so a crystal hairstick is just my grown up version. But for those of you who aren’t used to styling your hair up with these magical wands, this post is for you. I recently partnered with some of my very talented hair stylist friends to bring you some ideas for how to make your locks look lovely with Desert Daisy crystal hairsticks.
Every year we take a road trip for me to source for my jewelry. Those of you who know me, know I love hand selecting every stone I use; so much raw beauty exists in rocks and crystals, and I look for minerals that speak to me in different ways. It is so hard to do that most of the year, and my husband and I travel far and wide to make sure we stay true to the design aesthetic of Desert Daisy.
I know I am a bit behind the curve on new years reflections, but I am finally having a moment to sit and think about what life-changing events have filled this year. On a personal level there are too many milestones to mention, so for today I will just focus on the work milestones knowing they would never have been possible without the personal growth that came before.
It is hard to believe that less than 6 months have passed since I made the decision to dive in full steam ahead and make this my full-time endeavor.
This will be my first Holiday season not working in retail for as long as I can remember (at least 15 years). The other day when I realized it was already November, I was shocked that I didn’t have that growing sense of dread. Those of you who have worked in stores know it… Long hours, heavy shipment, waking up in a cold sweat at night thinking of how you can possibly hire 47 people in the next three weeks before Black Friday.
